Key news and trends in global trade

Key news and trends in global trade.

The US and China are again easing their trade war.
After a long period of mutual tariffs, Washington and Beijing have begun negotiations to reduce tariffs. The US previously raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 145%, while China responded with tariffs of up to 125% on American goods. The parties are now discussing a temporary reduction in restrictions and an extension of the tariff truce.
Global trade is changing routes
Due to tariffs and sanctions, companies are actively restructuring their supply chains:
• China is increasing exports to India, Southeast Asia, and the EU.
• The US is increasing domestic production and import substitution.
• Many international companies are shifting production from China to Vietnam, India, and Mexico.
New US tariffs on semiconductors
The US has imposed a 25% tariff on the import of certain semiconductors and high-tech products. This is increasing pressure on the global electronics market and could lead to higher prices for equipment.
Energy Exports and LNG
The US continues to expand LNG (liquefied natural gas) exports. New terminals are being built in Texas and Louisiana, and export capacity is growing despite geopolitical tensions.
🇪🇺 US-EU Trade Conflict
US tariffs on steel, aluminum, and European goods remain a key issue in global trade. The overall tariff on some EU products reaches 30%. Europe is simultaneously seeking new trade agreements with Asia and the Middle East.
The Main Trend of 2026: "Trade Fragmentation"
Economists note that globalization is not disappearing, but is dividing into blocs:
• The US and its allies are building separate supply chains;
• China is increasing trade with Asia and the Global South;
• Countries are trying to reduce dependence on a single supplier. What's happening with Russian and CIS exports
Amid changes in global logistics, the following are growing:
• deliveries via Turkey, India, the UAE, and China;
• raw materials and energy exports to Asia;
• the use of alternative currencies in international trade.
At the same time, difficulties with payments, cargo insurance, and logistics persist.
