EU 20th Sanctions Package Against Russia

On 23 April 2026, the European Union adopted the 20th sanctions package.

The European Union's 20th sanctions package continues the policy of increasing economic and trade pressure on Russia. The new measures are designed to further restrict access to international financial markets, advanced technologies, and goods that may be used for industrial or military purposes.

The main provisions include:

  • expansion of sanctions lists covering individuals and entities;
  • additional restrictions affecting the banking and financial sectors;
  • stricter export controls on dual-use goods and technologies;
  • new measures targeting companies involved in sanctions circumvention;
  • expanded restrictions on certain categories of industrial equipment;
  • enhanced monitoring of international logistics and transportation networks.

Special focus is placed on preventing the re-export of restricted goods through intermediaries and third countries. European authorities continue to strengthen monitoring mechanisms for international trade and financial transactions in order to improve the effectiveness of sanctions enforcement.

For companies engaged in international trade, logistics, customs clearance, and supply chain management, the new package requires increased due diligence regarding business partners, products, and transportation routes.
